In Plucking the Eagle, C. Francis James highlights systematic decisions made by the United States government that, according to James, have brought the United States to the brink of socialism.

According to James, the USA’s golden age ended in 1913. Before this date, the US enjoyed the highest standard of living without taxes, debt and a federal reserve. Today, with numerous forms of taxes, a Federal Reserve and over $13 Trillion in debt, the US is fostering government dependency. So, what happened? James explains.

The author blames this shift on a group of people he calls “Globalists” who have steered the US towards socialism over the last century. Building on this thesis throughout the book, the author looks at four sectors that have had the most impact financially on the US and the world: the Federal Reserve, Trade, Taxes, and Health Care. According to James, Globalists make use of – and sometimes initiate – “chaotic” events such as wars and stock market crashes that impact these sectors to introduce socialistic solutions.
